DeBreww - Minimal coffee shop app
Overview

DeBreww is a mobile application designed to simplify how people order coffee from their favorite café. The goal of this project was to create a seamless experience that allows users to browse drinks, customize orders, and pick them up without waiting in line.

This project focuses on improving the everyday coffee-buying routine by making the ordering process faster, more intuitive, and enjoyable.

Problem

Coffee shops often face long queues during peak hours, especially in the morning. Customers who are in a rush may avoid ordering because the wait time is unpredictable. From the user’s perspective, the current experience can be frustrating: - Long waiting times - Difficulty customizing drinks quickly - No clear order status - Limited loyalty rewards visibility This creates an opportunity for a mobile solution that makes ordering coffee more convenient.

Final Designs
Design Process

User Flow

The primary user flow focuses on ordering a drink quickly. User Flow: - Open app - rowse menu - Select drink - Customize drink - Add to cart - Payment - Order confirmation - Pickup notification The goal was to reduce unnecessary steps and keep the flow as simple as possible.

Wireframes

Low-fidelity wireframes were created first to explore layout and navigation. Key screens: - Home - Menu - Drink customization - Cart - Order tracking The focus during this stage was on clear navigation and quick access to popular drinks.

Prototype

An interactive prototype was created to test the ordering flow. Test participants were asked to: - Order a cappuccino - Customize the drink - Complete the checkout Observations Users were able to complete the task quickly and understood the ordering process without guidance. One improvement identified was making the cart button more visible, which was adjusted in the final design.

Impact & Results
  • If implemented, DeBreww could help coffee shops: -Reduce queue times - Improve customer convenience - Increase repeat orders - Strengthen loyalty programs For users, the experience becomes faster, simpler, and more enjoyable.
Learnings

This project helped me practice designing a real-world mobile experience focused on speed and usability. One key takeaway was the importance of removing friction from small daily activities. Even a routine task like buying coffee can become significantly better with thoughtful design.

Next Steps

In the future, I would like to expand the app with features such as: - Nearby café discovery - Scheduled orders - Group orders
